Without so much as a hint that he was leaving, the man flashed out. Sean was once more standing alone. Never in his life had his mind reeled over information in the way it was currently doing. His thoughts were a jumbled mess like ivy vines that had grown together. It was impossible for him to distinguish idea from idea as they bounced around in his brain. All about Marie and all about their place together. For the first time he could remember, a bout of nausea rose up from his gut and bile laced his throat. He’d lost friends, he’d lost the love of his life, and he’d damn near lost himself. Yet, nothing had set him on edge so much as the idea of Marie turning her back on what was forming because it was all he had left to have hope for.
